Jason: Hi, Liz! How are you doing?
Liz: Oh, Jason! Sorry, I didn't see you.
Jason: Yeah, I noticed that.
Liz: We are going to the seaside tomorrow and I'm kind of overexcited about it. I've never seen the sea before — we used to go to the country every summer. It's certainly nice, but...
Jason: I understand. I worry when we are leaving for holiday too, though we travel quite often. And on the plane I often get panic attacks.
Liz: Are you afraid of flying?
Jason: No, not at all. I feel panicky because I think I've forgotten something — to return an MP3 player to a friend for example. That's funny. Are you flying, by the way, or going by train?
Liz: Flying. It would be cheaper by train or by car but it takes too long and there's not enough room for all of us in the car. You're going with your family, aren't you?
Jason: Yes. Mum and Dad, my sister, Granny... And this creates a problem. What? You don't want to go with your granny?
Liz: No, it's not that! I love travelling with her. Granny tells us lots of amusing stories and she's always so cheerful. My sister and me are very lucky to have such a granny. The problem is my pets. Since everyone's leaving there's no one at home to take care of them. The hotel Dad reserved is not animal-friendly; they don't accept pets.
Jason: I see. I'd like to have a dog or a cat, but doctors say it's not for me. They make me cough and sneeze and may cause some more serious illness. And what pets have you got?
Liz: A goldfish, a parrot and a cat.
Jason: The goldfish is not a problem — you can leave it with me. And the parrot, too. My mums always been against any birds as they are messy and noisy, but I'm sure she won't mind it for a couple of weeks.
Liz: Oh, Jason, it'd be a great help! But what shall I do with my cat? All animal hotels in the city are booked.
Jason: Yeah, it's holiday time. Look, my aunt lives not far from here. She's got two cats and I'm sure she'll agree to take care of your cat, too.
Liz: Do you think she'll manage three cats at once? It's not easy, and my cat is quite a character!
Jason: No one could do it better. She worked as a vet in the national park in Kenya for several years and treated wild tigers and leopards. Your cat, whatever he is, wont be a problem.
Liz: Oh, excellent.

Dialog A.
- It’s a nice day for jogging, isn’t it? The weather is very pleasant.
- Yes. But I jog in any weather anyway.
- Even if it rains?
- Even if it rains. If you want to keep fit, you need to do sports regularly. My jogging root is always the same. From the center gates, round the lake, pass the playground and back to the gates. Regardless of what season is or what the weather.
- You seem to take your exercises very seriously.
Dialog B.
- Excuse, but aren’t the sports facilities free for the guests staying here?
- Most of them are. You can use the gym and the swimming pool as long as you like for free. The bowling, the table tennis and the billiard and free too.
- And the golf?
- That’s not included in your package. I’m sorry, sir.
- Where can I see the prize list for them? Here at the reception?
- Yes, here it is. If you pay for 3 games or more, you get a considerable discount.
Dialog C.
- Wow! It looks impressive. Lots of room and it’s not crowded.
- It’s a lunch time. In the morning and in evening this place is much busier.
- I see
- The sports equipment is ok. And you can exercise on your own or apply to the professional coach. He’ll define the training program for you and will supervise you.
- And what’s this for?
- Oh this is accessories like punch bags and gloves are for boxing. You are not interested in boxing, I suppose.
- No. just in aerobics.
Dialog D.
- This part of the town is relatively new. There are modern residential buildings, sport centers, a large swimming pool and so on and so far.
- Are there any historical buildings here?
- Yes. And that’s where we are heading to. It’s about a 15 minutes drive. It’s a large historical complex with this manias 8 churches of the 16th to 19th centuries.
- Are they still in operation or have they been converted in the museums?
- Some of them are museums and some are still working churches. We’ll see both kinds. Now, look to your right, we are passing the stadium. It’s a modern one. And some international competitions are even held there.

Speaker A. I know that lots of student don’t like exams. They would prefer school without tests and exams at all, but I don’t it’s possible. Exams helps to major the progress we’ve made and helps us to understand what we have to improve. Students usually need some motivation to learn and exams are very effective way to make them study.
Speaker B. I have already taken 2 exams. I learn English as a foreign language. In the end of my course in the language school I had to take an exam. At first I was afraid of that, but then I managed to concentrate on the task. I made a few mistakes, but my grade was ok anyway. Later, when I had to take an exam in my art course I didn’t worry about it at all and everything went fine for that one too.
Speaker C. If you want to pass your exam successfully, you should remember a few points. The first one – revise all the material you’ve learned, but not on the night before the exam. That night you should have a good sleep to be able concentrate on your tasks. Second: have a walk before you go to your classroom, it will help you to feel more relaxed.
Speaker D. It was my first exam and I feel frightened and uneasy. I’m quite good at mathematics, but there in the exam room I couldn’t concentrate. The first task took me much more time than it was supposed to. And I simply didn’t managed to complete the test on time. My grade was very low, I didn’t get a pass and I have to take it again in a month.
Speaker E. It could sound absolutely crazy for most students, but I don’t mind exams at all. More than that: passing the exams makes me feel good. It’s like doing sports to me, I have to make some afford to receive the result. And if I manage (and in the most cases I do) I feel very proud of myself. High grades motivate me to learn further. Low grades, if they happen, make an area to improvement.
A−4: some students don't like exams... they don't want to pass them... but I think they are effective.
B−1: I had to take an exam... I've made a few mistakes... everything went fine.
C−3: before exams ... revise the material... have a good sleep... have a walk before getting to the classroom.
D−5: I was frightened... I couldn't concentrate... I didn't manage to complete the test...
