  The Altai Territory is located in the South of Western Siberia. The average length of the territory from the North to the South is 360 km, from the West to the East is 585 km.

  In the South and the Southeast it borders upon Kazakhstan, in the Southwest – upon the Altai Republic, in the West and the Northwest – upon the Kemerovo Oblast, in the North – the Novosibirskaya oblast.

  The Altai – the big mountainous country – is located upstream the river Ob, which is formed by the confluent of two rivers – the Biya and the Katun, which originated from glaciers and the lakes of the Altai Highlands.
