Focus attention on the headline 21 century working and explain the differences and demands of professions of centuries.

The 21st century is the period of the emergence of new, undeveloped specialties. Our compatriots discovered the world of modern professions That's when they finally stopped being afraid of "wonderful" names: a manager, a marketing specialist, a designer, a coach.

 

Exercise 2  

Focus attention on the names of professions. Check meaning and pronunciation. Check answers as a class.

Exercise 4 .

In groups, students listen to 4 people talking about their jobs.

Exercise 5  

Go through the sentences together and check comprehension. Then ask students to underline key words.

Play the recording for students to match each speaker with a sentence.

Check answers as a class.

Exercise 7

Discussion of the text. While reading, put the verbs from Ex.5 in a correct grammar tense.

Exercise 8   

Monitor and help where necessary. Elicit responses and encourage discussion if there is disagreement.

Extra activity.

Ask students to work in pairs to produce a poster related to the world of work and promote the 21 century working. Tell them to include at least five useful tips.

Display the posters on the wall and have a class vote on the most attractive one and the most useful one.

 

Comment a quote: “Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life."

Discuss in pairs. Ask about the job of your partner’s parents.

Ask a question: “Would you like to follow your parent’s step?”

Building a successful brand

Back in 1999, when she was just ten years old, Juliette Brindak came up with the idea of Miss O, a cartoon character which was based on her little sister, Olivia. With the help of her mum, a graphic designer, she created a group of characters who she called the Cool Girls.
