1. Teacher: Good Morning. Ladies and gentlemen! Our dear teachers and students. We start our party and I want to wish you Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! We’ll snug songs, play games. And have a lot of fun together. We divided into 6 teams. So you are going to compete. The team which scores the largest amount of counters will win a prize.

The students who snug songs and recite poems are also praised at our party. Do you feel the New Year and Christmas Coming? Let’s stars with the traditional song. Jingle Bells.

2.                                                   Jingle Bells.

                                                                              By John Pierpont, 1857

Dashing through the snow

in a one-horse open sleigh,

O’er the fields we go,

laughing all the way;

Bells on bobtail ring,

making spirits bright,

What fun it is to ride and sing

a sleighing song tonight.

Chorus

Jingle bells, jingle bells,

jingle all the way.

O what fun it is to ride

In a one-horse open sleigh! (2 р).

A day or two ago,

I thought I'd take a ride,

And soon Miss Fanny Bright

Was seated by my side;

The horse was lean and lank;

Misfortune seemed his lot;

He got into a drifted bank -

and we? We got upsot!

Chorus

So now the moon is bright,

enjoy it white you’re young.

Invite your friends tonight

to sing this sleighing song.

Just get a bob-tailed nag

and give him extra feed.

Then hitch him to an open sleigh –

and crack! You’ll take the lead!

Chorus

3. Teacher: One of traditions is card singing. Carols are religious songs about the birth of Jesus Christ. People go from door to door singing them and collecting money for good causes.

Now the students of the English Christmas Carols.

F «Silent Night» - the 4th year students, 1-A.

F «The Twelve Days of Christmas» - the 3rd year students,

F «Deck the hall» - the 2nd year students.

Teacher: Let’s applaud heartily to our stagers, they sang really beautifully.

4. Teacher: Let’s and now speak about symbols of Christmas. What can’t you imagine Christmas without?

Start: I can’t imagine Christmas without …….

F Christmas tree.

F ornaments.

F lights.

F presents/gifts.

F Santa Claus.

5. Music is playing «When Santa got stuck in the Chimney…and Santa appears accompanied by two children.

The list child: How do you do, Santa Claus? I am so happy to meet you. Could you sit and chat for a while, please?

Santa: I am happy to meet you and the students and teachers too.

The 2nd child: Please, tell me it Santa Claus is you real name.

Santa: My great-great grand father’s name was Saint Nicholas. In Netherlands he was called Sinter Laos. Later Clement C. Moor called me Santa Claus in his poem.

The 1st child: My parents say that you love children very much. Why do you come to us only once a year them? Why don’t you visit us more often?

Santa: Oh, my dear child, I’m so busy getting presents for must fulfill the dreams of all good boys and girls on this planet.

The 2nd child: How is it possible to give presents all over the world during one night?

Santa: My wonderful reindeer help me.

The 1st child: Have you ever received a gift? I would like to give you a present. What would you like to get? Is there anything you dream of?

Santa: I want all people to be kind and friendly, to live in peace. I want children to love their parents and respect their teachers. I want everybody to be happy! The best present for me is when you have a lot of fun singing songs and playing games. My helpers will arrange everything. Let’s play a game.

Helper 1:

« Pass the parcel

Let’s play a game named « Pass the Parcel». Here is something wrapped in a lot of papers. You’ll stand in a circle and pass the parcel to the person next to you. The music stars playing you pass the packet. When the music stops you take off one of the papers. The person recites a poem. The music starts again. The person who takes off the fast piece of paper wins the prize.

Helper 1:

The students of the 2nd year of studies will sing a song «Frosty the snowman».

Helper 2: «Reindeer Hunt».

When we think of Santa, 8 we also think of his reindeer. He has eight reindeer to pull his sleigh. Their names come from a poem by an American, Clement C. Moore. The reindeer’s names are: Dasher, Dancer, Vixen, Comet Cupid, Donner and Blitzer.

I suggest playing a game c «Reindeer Hunt». It’s a word search. Find the names of Santa’s reindeer. They night be placed across and down, and diagonally.

Start when the music starts playing. When the music stops, Santa’s helpers will check your work.

But there was one more reindeer, a very special in his own way. Do you know his name?

Students: Rudolf.

Yes, you are right. The students of the 3rd year of studies would like to sing a song about Rudolf.

Rudolf the red-nosed reindeer

Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer

Had a very shiny nose,

And if you ever saw it

You would even say it glows.

All of the other reindeer

Used to laugh and call him names.

They never let poor Rudolph

Join in any reindeer games.

Then one foggy Christmas Eve

Santa came to say,

“Rudolph, with your nose so bright,

Won’t you guide my sleigh tonight?”

Then how the reindeer loved him,

As they shouted out with glee,

“Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer

You’ll do down in history!”

Helper 4:

The students of English department enjoy learning tongue-twisters. Look at the screen. There are 9 Christmas tongue-twisters: I’ll read them and you are to translate them:

- Tiny Timmy trims the tall tree with tinsel.

- Bobby brings bright Bells.

- Seven Santa’s sing silly songs.

- Santa’s sleigh slides on slick snow.

- Santa’s sack sags slightly.

- Chilly children cheerfully chant.

- Running reindeer romp round red wreaths.

- Seven Santa’s chose cheese, cherries and sherry.

- Pink silk stockings with seven silk sports.

Every team chooses a tongue-twister and in a minute you are to read it in chorus as quick as you can. Pronounce it three times.

Helper 5:

I can say – sea, ocean, river, lake instead of land I can say – island, coast. So, be attentive. Those who made a mistake go back to their place. Ready? Steady! Go!

Frosty the Snowman

Frosty the Snowman,

Was a jolly happy soul,

With a corncob pipe,

And a button nose,

And two eyes made of coal.

Frosty the Snowman,

Is a fairytale, they say.

He was made of snow,

But the children know

How he came to life one day.

There must have been some magic in

That old silk they found,

For when they placed it on his head,

He began to dance around!

Frosty the Snowman,

Was alive as he could be;

And the children say

He could laugh and play,

Just the same as you and me.

Frosty the Snowman,

Knew the sun was hot that day,

So he said, «Let's run

And we'll have some fun,

Now, before I melt away».

Down to the village,

With a broomstick in his hand,

Running here and there,

All around the square,

Saying' «Catch me if you can».

He led them down the streets of town,

Right to the traffic cop.

And only paused a moment,

When he heard him holler «Stop!»

Frosty the Snowman,

Had to hurry on his way,

But he waved goodbye,

Saying' «Don't you cry,

I'll be back again some day».

Away in a manger

Away in a manger, no crib for a bed,
The little Lord Jesus laid down his sweet head.
The stars in the sky looked down where he lay,
The little Lord Jesus asleep in the hay.

The cattle are lowing, the baby awakes,
But little Lord Jesus no crying he makes.
I love Thee, Lord Jesus, look down from the sky
And stay by my cradle till morning is nigh.

Be near me, Lord Jesus, I ask Thee to stay
Close by me forever, and love me, I pray.
Bless all the dear children in thy tender care,
And take us to heaven, to live with Thee there.

Must Be Santa

Who's got a beard that's long and white?

Santa's got a beard that's long and white.

Who comes around on a special night?

Santa comes around on a special night.

Special night, beard that's white -

Must be Santa, must be Santa,

Must be Santa, Santa Claus.

Who wears boots and a suit of red?

Santa wears boots and a suit of red.

Who wears a long cap on his head?

Santa wears a long cap on his head.

Cap on head, suit that's red,

Special night, beard that's white -

Must be Santa, must be Santa,

Must be Santa, Santa Claus.

Who's got a big red cherry nose?

Santa's got a big red cherry nose.

Who laughs this way, «Ho, Ho, Ho?»

Santa laughs this way, «Ho, Ho, Ho».

Ho, Ho, Ho, cherry nose,

Cap on head, suit that's red,

Special night, beard that's white -

Must be Santa, must be Santa,

Must be Santa, Santa Claus.

Who very soon will come our way?

Santa very soon will come our way.

Eight little reindeer pull his sleigh.

Santa's little reindeer pull his sleigh.

Reindeer sleigh, come our way,

Ho, ho, ho, cherry nose,

Cap on head, suit that's red,

Special night, beard that's white -

Must be Santa, must be Santa,

Must be Santa, Santa Claus.

Poems

Many Things

I love Christmas for many things

Trees, candles, angel wings.

Stars in the heavens,

Snow covered hills,

Little toy trains,

Dolls in the frills.

I love Christmas, ribbons of gold,

Familiar carols, so very old.

Sweet candy canes, bright red sleds,

Little ones tucked snug in their beds.

I love Christmas, but most of all

I look forward to a neighbor’s call.

A friendly chat, a cup of tea

Love in the home means Christmas to me.

Christmas is coming

Christmas is coming!

The geese are getting fat.

Please put a penny

In the old man's hat.

Please put a penny

In the old man's hat.

If you haven't got a penny,

A ha'penny will do,

If you haven't got a ha'penny,

Then God bless you.

If you haven't got a ha'penny,

Then God bless you.

It’s Christmas

by Jack Drelusky

It’s Christmas! Merry Christmas!

Yes, it’s merry, merry Christmas,

It’s time for hanging stockings,

It’s time for riding sleighs,

It’s time for jolly greeting,

Oh, I love you merry Christmas,

You’re the best of holidays.

The Mistletoe

by Jack Drelutsky

Mommy, Daddy, quick! Let’s go

And stand beneath the mistletoe.

You kiss me and I’ll kiss you,

Here comes Sister,

Kiss her too.

Mommy, Daddy, quick! Let’s go

And stand beneath the mistletoe.

While Christmas

By Irving Berlin

I’m dreaming of a white Christmas

Just like the ones I used to know,

Where the tree tops glisten,

And children listen

To hear sleighbells in the snow.

I’m dreaming of a white Christmas

With every Christmas card I write.

May your days be merry and bright,

And may all your Christmases be white!

Our Christmas Play

By  Jack Drelusky

We were nervous and excited

in assembly today,

For our parents came to visit us

and watch our Christmas play.

Our teachers helped a little,

but we did the most ourselves,

The fattest kid played Santa

and the smallest kids were elves.

A few were Santa’s reindeer

so they got to run and leap,

Some of us were shepherds,

and a bunch were woolly sheep.

There was Jesus in the manger,

there were angels wearing wings,

There was Joseph, there was Mary,

and the three wise Eastern kings.

We wore makeup, we wore costumes,

it was really lots of fun,

And our parents all applauded

when our Christmas play was done.

Then we took our bows together,

everyone that is, but me –

I just stood there, green and fragrant,

for I played…

the CHRISTMAS TREE!

Dreams

Take your dreams this Christmas

And decorate the tree.

Look up high

And once again

The glowing star you’ll see.

Take your dreams

And carry them

Into the coming year.

Dreams are made of hope and love

Whenever faith is near.

What Is It?

Is it the sparkle on the tree,

The green wreath on the door,

The present tied with ribbon red,

Or is it something more?

The cherry greeting when we meet

A friend along our way,

The crunch of snow beneath our feet,

The children in their play?

We ask ourselves,

What is it?

But in the end we know

It’s our love for one another

That makes Christmas spirit glow.

The 1st child: My parents say that you love children very much. Why do you come to us only once a year them? Why don’t you visit us more often?

Santa: Oh,my dear child, I’m so busy getting presents for must fulfill the dreams of all good boys and girls on this planet.

Helper 2:«Reindeer Hunt».

When we think of Santa, 8 we also think of his reindeer. He has eight reindeer to pull his sleigh. Their names come from a poem by an American, Clement C. Moore. The reindeer’s names are: Dasher, Dancer, Vixen, Comet Cupid, Donner and Blitzer.

I suggest playing a game c «Reindeer Hunt». It’s a word search. Find the names of Santa’s reindeer. They night be placed across and down, and diagonally.

Start when the music starts playing. When the music stops, Santa’s helpers will check your work.

But there was one more reindeer, a very special in his own way. Do you know his name?

Students: Rudolf.

Yes, you are right. The students of the 3rd year of studies would like to sing a song about Rudolf.

Rudolf the red-nosed reindeer

Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer

Had a very shiny nose,

And if you ever saw it

You would even say it glows.

All of the other reindeer

Used to laugh and call him names.

They never let poor Rudolph

Join in any reindeer games.

Then one foggy Christmas Eve

Santa came to say,

“Rudolph, with your nose so bright,

Won’t you guide my sleigh tonight?”

Then how the reindeer loved him,

As they shouted out with glee,

“Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer

You’ll do down in history!”
