The theme: Revision lesson: Present Perfect, Past Perfect.
Reading: Great Britain: a Country of Traditions.
The aims: a) to revise the grammar material; to present the text; working at the text;
doing exercises;
b) to develop pupils’ skills and habits in reading and in writing;
to enlarge pupils’ stock of vocabulary;
c) to bring – up pupils to be educated and to get more information about
traditions and customs of Great Britain;
Visual aids: posters, CD, activity book

- Let’s do the exercise 7 on page 65. Open the brackets to make the sentences complete.
- A. Past Indefinite or Present Perfect?
Nancy (has travelled) a lot. She has been visited to many countries. Last year she visited Greece. How long have you been here? When did you arrive? When did you meet your first teacher? How many years have you known him? Has Helen written the letter yet? – No, she hasn’t? Kate hasn’t typed all the letters. She typed three of them yesterday. But she hasn’t done anything today.
- B. Present Perfect or Past Perfect?
I phoned Mr. Williams to find out if Pat had gone away. He was not sure. I’ll go and see if she has gone out. I have lived in a small cottage for 12 years before my family moved to town. Jack has played tennis three times this week. He said he hadn’t played tennis a week before.

- Read the text once very attentively and try to understand and remember as much as you can.
Great Britain: A country of traditions
Just like families have their own traditions so do countries. It’s common knowledge that the British are lovers of traditions. In a whole year, each season in Britain is connected with various colourful traditions, customs and festivals.
Ex 17.p 71. Now that you’ve read the text once match the names of the traditions with the season of the year.
