Santa’s Sleigh
Have you ever wondered
Where
Santa leaves his sleigh,
When he brings toys for the girls and boys
To find on Christmas day?
For
reindeer, all the roof-tops
Are much too smooth and steep!
One slip, and they’d go sliding down,
And
land in one big heap!
But
if they were in the garden,
How
could Santa, with his sack,
Climb
right up to the roof-top, Then down the chimney stack? There’s too much danger
in the road…
So, where CAN he leave his sleigh?
Perhaps
you’d like to ask him,
When he comes round your way!
* * *
I wish you a merry Christmas A happy New Year!
A pocket full of money
And a cellar full of beer, A good fat pig
To last you all the year,
So please give me a gift For this New Year!

It’s never
Fair Weather
I
don’t like the winter wind That whistles from the North.
My upper teeth and those beneath,
They jitter back and forth.
Oh, some are hanged, and some are skinned,
and
others face the winter wind!

I’m a little snowman, look at me.
These are my buttons, 1 2 3.
These are my eyes and this is my nose.

Seeking those who yet believe
Through a frosty winter night
In a sleigh with reindeer flight
Bringing joy to large and small Merry

We all dance, and sing, and say
“Welcome, welcome, New Year Day!”

Christmas secrets
I
know so many secrets
Such
secrets full of fun;
But
if you hear my secrets, Please don't tell anyone.
Here are some lights that twinkle,
Here
is an ornament.
Here is a great big present From Grandpa it was sent.
And on the very tip-tip top, An angel
you can see, What is the secret?
Can't
you tell?
Why,
it's a Christmas tree!

Let us wait for the ball to drop,
And then for the balloons to pop.

I’m Just a Little Snowman
I’m just a little snowman white and round. Made from snow
that falls on the ground.
Charcoal for buttons a carrot for a nose,
Twigs for fingers, but no toes.
When it’s cold, I want to play.
When spring comes, I’ll go away.

Snow is falling
Snow is falling
From
the sky above,
Snow is falling Put on scarf and
glove.
Snow is falling
Go
look outside,
Snow is falling
What a beautiful sight, Snow is falling The landscape
it hides.
Snow is falling It sparkles in
lights.
Snow is falling
Soft
cotton flakes,
Snow is falling A blanket it
makes.
Snow is falling
Red
leaves disappear,
Snow is falling The cold is here .
Snow is falling It’s time to play,
Snow is falling
Make
a snowman today.

Falling Snow
See
the pretty snowflakes,
Falling
from the sky;
On the walls and house-tops
Soft
and thick they lie;
On
the window-ledges,
On
the branches bare,
See how fast they gather, Filling all
the air.
Look into the garden, Where the grass
was green.
Covered by the snowflakes, Not a blade
is seen.
Now the bare black bushes,
All look soft and white, Every twig is
laden- What a pretty sight!

Snow jacket, snow boots
Snow
jacket, snow boots
Snow pants, snow suits,
Snowflakes, snowstorm — Snow is cold, but
we feel warm.
The snow is white and clean. It makes
a lovely scene.
It covers cars, and trees, and
streets,
and makes the world go «hush»
It looks so very pretty— until it turns
to slush!

The First Snow Everything gets
covered, As the powder falls down.
The snow seems to be discovered,
As kids start to leave town. The rushing
and running, As kids go out and play.
Just
to view the fun,
That would keep them out all day.
Slipping
and sliding,
And
making snowmen.
While staying in hiding, From the
blistering wind. The kids come in inside, To drink something hot.
And go back outside, To make a
snow yacht.

Winter Time
Icy fingers and icy toes, Bright
red cheeks, a bright red nose.
Watch the snowflakes as they fall,
Try so hard to count them all. Make a
snowman way up high, See if it can touch the sky.
Snow forts, snowballs,
angels
too,
In the snow so white and new. Slip and
slide and skate so fast, Winter time is here at last.

A Little Snowflake
I watched a little snowflake
Come
sailing from the sky,
It played a joke on me when It fell
right in my eye!
Another

They seemed like little fairies Upon a

Just out for fun and frolic and asking

Snow Day
Snow is falling to the ground
Piling up in enormous mounds
School is cancelled for the day, Children
run outside to play.
Snowballs are thrown in the air
No one has any care About school-only fun,
Because the day is a snowy one.
As
the weather gets cold
The
children are told,
To
come inside and eat
Enjoy hot chocolate with a couple
treats.
Almost
over is the day
The children start to walk away,
As snow falls, so does the sun
Time to go in, the day is done.

Lovely and chaste like smooth white

A veil of wonder laced in light
Falling Gently on a winter’s

Smiling beauty that’s spun afar. Till earth is dressed in a

Sleigh-Bells
Tinkle, tinkle, tinkle! Happy winter-time!
Baby’s eyes a-twinkle, hear the

See them quake and quiver, up and

into laughter,
jolly

Winter
Clouded
with snow
The
cold winds blow,
And shrill on leafless bough
The robin with its burning breast
Alone sings now.
The
rayless sun,
Day's
journey done,
Sheds
its last ebbing light
On fields in leagues of beauty spread
Unearthly white.
Thick
draws the dark,
And
spark by spark,
The frost-fires kindle, and soon Over
that sea of frozen foam Floats the white moon.
Walter de la Mare
Looking For a Sunset Bird in Winter
The west was getting out of gold,
The breath of air had died of cold,
When shoeing home across the white,
I thought I saw a bird alight.
In
summer when
I
passed the place
I had to stop and lift my face;
A
bird with an angelic gift
Was singing in it sweet and swift.
No bird was singing in it now.
A single leaf was on a bough,
And that was all there was to see
In going twice around the tree.
Robert Frost

Winter Time
Late lies the wintry sun a-bed,
A frosty, fiery sleepy-head;
Blinks but an hour or two; and then,
A blood-red orange, sets again.
Before
the stars have left
the
skies,
At morning in the dark I rise;
And shivering in my nakedness,
By the cold candle, bathe and dress.
Close by the jolly fire I sit
To warm my frozen bones a bit;
Or with a reindeer-sled, explore
The colder countries round the door.
When to go out, my nurse doth wrap
Me in my comforter and cap;
The cold wind burns my face, and
blows
Its frosty pepper up my nose.

Frosty
is the morning;

See the happy children Coasting down the hill.
There are Tom and Charley,
And
their sister Nell;
There are John and Willie,
Kate and Isabel — Eyes with
pleasure beaming,
Cheeks with health aglow;
Bless the merry children, Trudging
through the snow!
Now I hear them shouting,
«Ready! Clear the track!»
Down the slope they’re rushing,
Now they’re trotting back.
Full
of fun and frolic,
Thus
they come and go.

The Snowman
One day we built a snowman,
We built him out of snow;
You should have seen how fine he was,
All
white from top to toe.
We poured some water over him,
To
freeze his legs and ears;
And when we went indoors to bed, We
thought he’d last for years.
But, in the night a warmer kind
Of
wind began to blow;
And Jack Frost cried and ran away,
And with him went the snow.
When we went out next morning To bid our
friend «Good Day», There wasn’t any snowman there…
He’d
melted right away!

Christmas Greetings
Lady
dear, if Fairies may
For a
moment lay aside
Cunning tricks and elfish play,
‘Tis at happy Christmas-tide.
We have heard the children say—
Gentle children, whom we love— Long ago, on Christmas Day, Came a message from
above.
Still, as Christmas-tide comes round,
They
remember it again—
Echo
still the joyful sound
“Peace on earth, good-will to men!”
Yet the hearts must childlike be
Where
such heavenly
guests
abide:
Unto children, in their glee, All the
year is Christmas-tide!
Thus, forgetting tricks and play For a
moment, Lady dear,
We would wish you, if we may, Merry
Christmas, glad New Year! * * *
Christmas bells
I heard the bells on Christmas
Day
Their old, familiar carols play,
And
wild and sweet
The words repeat Of peace on
earth, good-will to men!
And thought how, as the day had
come,
The belfries of all Christendom
Had
rolled along
The
unbroken song
Of peace on earth, good-will to men!
Till, ringing, singing on its way
The world revolved from night to day, A voice, a chime,
A
chant sublime
Of peace on earth, good-will to men!
Then from each black, accursed mouth
The cannon thundered in the
South,
And
with the sound
The Carols drowned Of peace on
earth, good-will to men! And in despair
I
bowed my head;
"There is no peace on earth,"
I
said;
"For
hate is strong,
And mocks the song Of peace on
earth, good-will to men!" Then pealed the bells more loud and deep: "God
is not dead; nor doth he sleep!
The Wrong shall fail, The Right prevail, With peace
on earth, good-will to men!"
Longfellow Henry Wadsworth * * *
Christmas Carol
The Christ-child lay on Mary's lap,
His
hair was like a light.
(O weary, weary were the world,
But here is all aright.)
The Christ-child lay on Mary's breast
His
hair was like a star.
(O stern and cunning are the kings,
But here the true hearts are.)
The Christ-child lay on Mary's heart,
His
hair was like a fire.
(O weary, weary is the world,
But here the world's desire.)
The Christ-child stood on Mary's knee,
His hair was
like a crown, And all the flowers looked up at Him,
And all the stars looked down

Christmas Joys
Evergreen boughs that fill our homes
With fragrant Christmas scents, Hearts filled with the
loving glow
That
Christmas represents;
Christmas cookies, turkeys stuffed,
Festive
holly berry,
Little
faces bright with joy,
Loved
ones being merry;
Parties, songs, beribboned gifts,
Silver bells that tinkle,
Christmas trees and ornaments,
Colorful lights that twinkle;
Relatives waiting with open arms
To smile and hug and kiss us;
These are some of the special
joys
That come along with Christmas.

Christmas Magic
Are we too grownup to feel a
thrill
As we light the Christmas tree?
Are we immune to cookies, Christmas
cards and Christmas glee?
Are
we too adult to
"Ooh" and "Aah" At
the Christmas candle's glow?
Are we blasé about our gifts; Do we shun the mistletoe? Are
we too mature for carols, For merry or for jolly?
Do the decorations leave us cold,
The
ornaments and holly?
Fat chance! We'll never grow too old
To love the Christmas magic.
A
year without a Christmas
Would be boring, even tragic.
So
bring it on!
The
candy canes,
The feasting and good cheer;
O Christmas, lovely Christmas, You're the
highlight of the year!
Joanna Fuchs

A Sunny Christmas
Every year at Christmas time There's
not a sign of snow. Instead we spend our yuletide days
In the sun's warm cheery glow.
We
have the best of
Christmas
things,
The lights, the gifts, the bells, (And
"snowbirds" who arrive en masse
To
fill our beach hotels.)
The glorious weather fits right in
With
our happy
Christmas
mood,
And we can also walk and run
Without having to be snowshoed.
So
don't feel bad for your
(location) friends Who have no
snow or ice.
We think our sunny Christmas
here Is a holiday paradise!

Christmas
is for Children
Christmas
is for children — at least that’s what they say,
It’s
time of wide-eyed wonder, a magic holiday
When candy canes and gingerbread fill tummies with delight
And little sleepyheads try hard to stay up
through the night.
Yes, Christmas is for children- anyone will
tell you so.
The twinkling, colored lights on trees
make
youngsters’ eyes just glow!
Each package and each stocking is approached
with childish joy
And toys bring squeals of laughter
from each eager girl and
boy.
Yes, Christmas is for children — all they
say is true.
How wonderful that at Christmas time — grown-ups are
children, too!
